Internal Operations Platform
Flowdesk
Flowdesk is a concept project exploring how an operations team might replace a patchwork of spreadsheets, email threads, and disconnected tools with a single, purposefully designed workspace.
Service
Digital Solutions
Type
Internal Operations Platform
Intended audience
Operations managers, finance teams, and department leads at mid-sized companies dealing with manual workflow overhead.
Problem explored
Most operational work happens in email and spreadsheets, with approvals lost in threads and no clear audit trail. Connecting a company's actual systems requires custom integration work that never quite gets prioritised.
Product goals
- Centralise task tracking, approvals, and reporting in one tool
- Integrate with existing CRM, billing, and communication software
- Create an audit trail for critical operational decisions
- Reduce time spent on status reporting and manual data aggregation
Project scope
- Workflow mapping and process discovery
- Approval, task, and reporting interface design
- Third-party integrations with CRM, billing, and messaging tools
- Role-based permissions and audit logging
Design approach
The interface prioritises clarity over feature density. Every workflow has a defined owner, clear status, and visible next action. The visual language borrows from professional tools without the learning curve.
Technical approach
Event-driven architecture with webhooks for third-party integrations. Document storage with version history. Role-based permissions with department-level visibility controls. Built on Node.js with a React frontend.
Intended outcomes
These are design intentions from a concept project, not measured results.
- Designed to replace 4–6 separate tools for typical operations teams
- Intended to provide full audit trails for regulated industries
- Integration model designed to support 50+ common business software connectors
